Cefasyn 125 Tablets = Cefuroxime 125mg
Cefasyn 250 Tablets = Cefuroxime 250mg
Cefasyn 500 Tablets = Cefuroxime 500mg
Cefasyn 250 Injection 5 ml = Cefuroxime 500mg
Cefasyn 750 Injection 15 ml = Cefuroxime 750mg
Cefasyn 1000 Injection 20 ml = Cefuroxime 1000mg
| Usage and Recommended Dosage. |
IM/IV
Respiratory tract infection, ENT, UTI, soft tissue and bone and joint
infections, gynaecological infections, septicaemia, peritonitis and
meningitis: 750 mg every 6-8 hours. 1.5 g, 6-8 hourly in severe cases.
Single dose over 750 mg, IV only. Infants, Children: Usually 60 mg/kg/day
(range 30-100 mg/kg/day) in 3-4 divided doses, 2-3 div doses in neonates.
Prophylaxis: After surgery: Initially1.5 g IV followed by 750 mg-1.5 g IM t.i.d.
for 24-48 hours.
Oral
Milder infections of upper and lower respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue
infections: (as axetil) Adults: 125-500 mg b.i.d. according to severity.
Children: 125 mg b.i.d.
Otitis Media: Children over 2 years: 250 mg b.i.d. Others: As above.
Uncomplicated Gonorrhoea: Single dose of 1.0 g
